Teen Mentorship
The Teen Mentorship Program (TMP) is designed to target mixed race teens in a high school population. The TMP hopes to decrease difficulties associated with multiracial identity development, increase awareness of racial prejudice in both monoracial and multiracial populations. The overarching goal of the TMP is to increase racial harmony on high school campuses, as this is a time when adolescents begin exploring their racial identity. The TMP believes there should be a space on a high school campus, like on college campuses, where a mixed race teen would have a space to learn about, explore and explore their mixed race identity.
The TMP holds seminars with high school populations across the Southern California area. Teachers and/or principals from high school campuses can invite TMP speakers to their class or school-wide assembly to present information and facilitate dialogue on the mixed race population and racial identity issues. Seminars are conducted in a manner to engage high school age groups, complete with interactive dialogue, activities and games.
