MASC President Thomas Lopez, VP Sonia Smith-Kang, and Public Relations Director Delia Douglas were invited to attend an advanced screening of Loving, the forthcoming film from Focus Features telling the story of the Loving v. Virginia Supreme Court case that legalized interracial marriage nationwide.
Thomas Lopez made the following comments about the film:
“This film breathes life into a story that the multiracial community will find just as relatable today as it did nearly fifty years ago. We are brought back in time to feel the emotions of this brave couple and realize how this story is still relevant. So often history becomes a collection of facts and plot points. While being faithful to the details, including the re-creation of certain archival moments, this film reminds us of the humanity that is the Loving story. This is something the multiracial community can definitely be proud to get behind.”
Attorney needed for Los Angeles Mixed-race couple:
Long term MASC supporters urgently need attorney for housing discrimination/harassment case including home/property water-damage insurance claim, and related embezzlement. The embezzlement has been reported to LAPD. A private attorney is needed for the civil case issues.
