MASC President Thomas Lopez will be moderating a panel entitled “Mixed Latinos in the Flesh” at this year’s Mixed Remixed Festival, at which writers and performers will share how their identities as mixed Latinos influence their work.
Sonia N. Kang (MASC vice-president, The Mixed Up blogger, Modern Mom contributor, and Multiculti Cuties co-founder) will also participate on a panel broadcast live by KPCC 89.3 FM discussing “Can diversity really be taught?”
The Mixed Remixed Festival is a film, book and media festival celebrating stories of the mixed experience which will be held June 14, 2014 at the Japanese American National Museum in downtown Los Angeles. This event is FREE and open to the public. Pre-registration is encouraged! Register now!
There will be events for the whole family, and Saturday is a Target Family Free Day. Also, don’t miss the children’s writing workshop and reading with “I Am Mixed” author Sebastian A Jones.

Marrow Donor Search Alert: A Match for Baylor
Baylor is a cheerful and energetic 7 year old. He battled leukemia 2 years ago and beat it. The family recently found out he relapsed. Baylor is undergoing treatment, but will need a bone marrow transplant to survive. Since Baylor is Japanese and German mixed race, he will most likely match a donor who is also mixed race, Asian and Caucasian. Please download the flyer to learn about upcoming registration drives. You might be able to match Bay or any other of the 12,000 patients around the world.
